Next Monday, March 5th, Mark "Barney" Greenway of Napalm Death will guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson. Napalm Death's new album "Utilitarian" will be released February 27th in Europe and February 28th in North America via Century Media Records. This is the band's 14th studio album. Heady interview!

Doug Pinnick (February 27)

Doug Pinnick of King's X will be the next guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson on Monday, February 27th. King's X will begin a west coast tour this March through the end of April named the "First Church Of Rock And Roll." It will be the first time the band have played most of these cities since 2009. The tour is in support of "Live Love In London," the live CD/DVD follow up to the studio release, "XV." Check the dates in Heady Tours and be sure to listen to the interview for all the details.

Gene Hoglan (February 13)

On Monday, February 6th, Ben Ward of Orange Goblin will guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson. Orange Goblin is set to release their new album 'A Eulogy For The Damned' in the U.K. on Monday, February 13th and in the U.S.A. the following day (Tuesday, February 14th) via Candlelight Records. Jeff Olson Pens Debut Column for German Magazine

Original TROUBLE drummer and RETRO GRAVE main man Jeff "Oly" Olson has penned his debut column this month for Germany's bi- monthly music magazine, BIG FIVE. The column titled 'Jeff's Heady Metal' will be a regular feature in the magazine with Jeff re-capping his most memorable interviews with musicians, and his personal thoughts about them, from his Internet radio show, HEADY METAL WITH JEFF OLSON.

The December/January 2012 issue of BIG FIVE is on German newsstands now.

Jeff Olson has been writing and recording in the music industry since the formation of TROUBLE (1979) and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in film scoring, cum laude, from Berklee College of Music.

Gonzo Sandoval (November 28)

Drummer Gonzo Sandoval and his brother Phil Sandoval founded Armored Saint back in 1982 and was one of the first heavy metal bands signed by Metal Blade Records. Today, classic metal band Armored Saint is still writing, recording and touring the world. On Monday, November 21st original Trouble and current Blackfinger frontman Eric Wagner will guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson. Blackfinger's new single, All The Leaves Are Brown, will premeire during the show and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, November 22nd via Dark Star Records. Gregor Mackintosh (October 31)

On Halloween evening Gregor Mackintosh of legendary Paradise Lost and Vallenfyre will guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson. Vallenfyre will be releasing their debut album, A Fragil King, through Century Media Records on October 31st and Gregor will stop by and tell us all about it. Jeff will be spinning the new album! Ron Jarzombek (October 24)

Ron Jarzombek has been hailed as one of the most influential progressive metal guitarist and is known by many as the "Godfather of Technical Metal." Ron has influenced so many guitarists that it is no wonder he was featured in the 2009 book, "The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarist" by British author Joel Mclver who called Ron "the most underated axemonger ever." Ron wil be talking with Jeff on Monday, October 24th about his newly released Blotted Science EP, 'The Animation of Entomolgy.' We've heard the EP already and, trust us, it's awesome!

Michael Amott (October 10)

Guitarist Michael Amott of Swedish/German extreme metallers Arch Enemy is no stranger to the heavy metal world. In 1988 he co-founded the death metal band Carnage and was later recruited by Carcass in 1990. Carcass's 1993 album Heartwork helped to define what is know known as melodic death metal. Michael Amott, however, didn't limit himslef to to the metal genre and formed the hard rock band Spirtual Beggars in 1993. Michael is currently setting the stage on fire touring the world with Arch Enemy. Heady Metal with Jeff Olson will have guest Jean-Francois Dagenais of Canadian extreme metallers Kataklysm on the show this Monday, July 25th. Kataklysm has just finished up with its highly successful world tour that has taken the band to the four corners of the world. The "Heaven's Venom" mania will continue this summer with the band's appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival this August. The band will headline the Brutal Assault festival in Czech Republic, perform at Metal Mean in Belgium, and play at the 20th anniversary of the Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany to an already sold-out audience of 30,000 metal fans! HEADY METAL WITH JEFF OLSON Celebrates One Year!

Original TROUBLE drummer and RETRO GRAVE main man Jeff "Oly" Olson will celebrate the first year anniversary this July with his Internet radio show HEADY METAL WITH JEFF OLSON. The show premiered on July 5th, 2010 via Metal Messiah Radio with Dave Chandler (SAINT VITUS) as Olson's first guest.

Olson commented:

"It's been one year already that the Heady Metal show has been in Internet radio. I chose to do this radio show, because I want to interview artist that rock hard as well as support the many genres of underground heavy metal and hard rock music that doesn't get enough publicity, or no publicity at all, through main stream radio.

"When is the last time you heard bands like Blotted Science, Harvey Milk, Disembowelment, Autospy, GNaW, Kayo Dot, or Las Cruces on main stream radio? Never. This is why I do this show. I'm not saying that main stream rock artists are not interviewed on my show, because they are. I interview musicians that jam their ass off no matter what the genre. They all have something deep to say. That's why the show is called Heady Metal.

I select my favorite people in the rock world to interview. There are no produces or engineers and all editing is done on my own. I'm not a professional DJ. I'm a musician that enjoys conversations with other musicians that are talented and interesting. So, for those listening to the show for the first time and those who have been regualring logging in... thank you. I hope that my show will influence listeners for the next slamming generation to come... Cheers to another great year of HEADY music."

Aaron Stainthorpe (June 27)

On Monday, June 27th Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride will guest on the Heady Metal with Jeff Olson show. My Dying Bride celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2010. To commemorate two decades of doom and gloom from the elite British act, the band embarked upon a special project to re-work familiar melodies and themes from its extensive catalogue into long, flowing symphonic compositions, incorporating new vocals and passages from vocalist, Aaron Stainthorpe. The collection- titled- "Evinta" - was released on May 31 via Peacville Records as a two-disc set and deluxe three-disc edition with 64-page book inspired by My Dying Bride's illustrious recordings of the past two decades. Aaron will give an update with all the details and a look down memory lane. Check it out!

This Monday, June 13, Heady Metal with Jeff Olson will follow up on The Days of The Doom Festival to be held on Friday and Saturday June 17-18th at The P.L.A.V in Kenosha, WI. Jeff will be chatting with more of the performing bands of The Days of Doom Festival (Las Cruces, Earthen Grave, Apostle of Solitude, and The Gates of Slumber) and Promoter Mike Smith will give more highlights and details for all the festivities!

Best Metal Bars-Episode 1 (April 04)

This Monday, April 4th Heady Metal with Jeff Olson will begin the first of a special series of 'Best Metal Bars Serving Craft Beer.' Olson is no amateur to craft beer working in the beer and winemaking industries for many years in addition to his musical endeavors. Olson has chosen two American metal bars for the first episode, one on the east coast and one on the west coast, and will feature interviews with Alice Coooper's Keri Kelli representing Aces in Ales in Las Vegas and Rev. Dave Ciancio representing Idle Hands Bar in New York City. Armando Acosta 1952-2010 RIP

December 01, 2010-

Comment from Jeff "Oly" Olson:

"Sadly, it has been confirmed that the original drummer for Saint Vitus, Armando Acosta, passed on Thanksgiving Day (November 25) at the age of 58. I had scheduled an interview with Henry Vasquez (current Saint Vitus drummer) for this Monday's show before anyone had known of the passing. Therefore, this Monday's (December 6th) edition will be a memorial for the late Armando Acosta. The interview with Vasquez will be re-scheduled for a later date."

"Armando was one of my dear friends from Saint Vitus. The last time I saw Armando was when he ate dinner at my house after a Saint Vitus show in Chicago. He had a very kind heart and was funny. I'm saddened by this news. He will be very missed by so many. May he rest in peace."

Heady Metal Moves To A Weekly Program

October 28, 2010-

'Heady Metal with Jeff Olson' is moving to a weekly program (formally bi-weekly) beginning November 08. The show will continue to run on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern via MetalMessiahRadio.com with the encore on Saturday's from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. (formally Friday's). As always, the podcasts will become available at this website the following day.

Alice Cooper's Keri Kelli will be on the next edition of Heady Metal with Jeff Olson on Monday, November 8th! The Lizardman's LIZARD SKYNARD (Oct 25)

Next guest on Heady Metal with Jeff Olson will be Erik Sprague AKA LIZARD MAN on October 25th! A doctoral candidate in Philosophy, Erik Sprague/The Lizardman is interesting way beyond his obviously-compelling surface. Sprague has undergone approximately 700 hours of tattoo work, his body is inked in scales which are about 70 percent green. He has made modifications to his tongue (split in two) and his teeth (filed to points) and has large gauge holes in his ears. The word FREAK emblazoned upon his chest isa profession and philosophy for Sprague, evidenced by his fronting the experimental rock combo, LIZARD SKYNARD.

Recently at the Ripley's Believe It or Not! world headquarters in Orlando, FL; the F/X team took body casts and created a mold of Sprague, and he's set to become a wax figure attraction this November in Orlando. He is also an author, 'Once More Through The Modified Looking Glass,' does side show performances and stand-up comedy in addition to his Rollin-esque vocal delivery on LIZARD's SKYNARD's latest release due out on October 19, 2010.
